Anterior cruciate ligament rupture.

Regain a stable knee for the activities that matter to you.

01 · Your journey

Assessing after the sprain

The examination and imaging clarify any ligament injuries and associated damage. The consultation also takes into account your occupation, hobbies, and goals. Please bring the accident report and any previously performed examinations.

02 · Your journey

The role of rehabilitation

Rehabilitation focuses on knee mobility, strength, and control. It contributes to recovery, with or without surgery. Treatment is tailored to the level of stability achieved and the planned activities.

03 · Your Journey

An individualized decision.

Ligament reconstruction, called ligamentoplasty, can be discussed. It is not decided based solely on the MRI: associated injuries, instability, and functional needs are all taken into account. The timing of the procedure depends on the condition of the knee.

04 · Your Journey

Preparing for the return to activity

Rehabilitation continues after surgery. The return to work and sports is decided during follow-up. Infection, stiffness, and phlebitis are among the possible complications. Fever, a weeping incision, or a painful and swollen calf should be reported promptly.

Your questions.

Does a rupture require immediate surgery?+

No. The assessment allows for the selection of the treatment and its timing. However, certain associated lesions may modify the management.
