Knee treatments.

Rehabilitation, injections, and surgery: understanding the options, deciding together, and preparing for the recovery.

01 · Understanding and deciding

The diagnosis guides the treatment.

A ligament injury, a painful meniscus, and osteoarthritis do not require the same approach. The dedicated information sheets explain the non-surgical options and the potential role of surgery. An injection is not a mandatory step in the treatment process.

02 · Understanding and deciding

Before an injection

Report any infection, fever, skin lesion at the injection site, allergy, diabetes, or anticoagulant use. Do not stop any treatment on your own. Also, inform the team if knee surgery is scheduled. The procedure may be postponed if the safety conditions are not met.

03 · Understanding and deciding

How is the procedure performed?

Injections require rigorous disinfection; image guidance may be used depending on the situation. Aspiration may be considered if there is effusion. The team explains the product, its purpose, and the risks before the procedure.

04 · Understanding and Deciding

After injection

Avoid strenuous activity for the first 24 hours, then follow the instructions specific to the product and your knee. Complete immobilization is generally not necessary. The outcome assessment is scheduled according to the treatment.

05 · Understanding and Deciding

When should I contact a doctor again quickly?

Transient pain may occur. Severe or increasing pain, a red, hot, or very swollen knee, or a fever requires prompt medical attention to check for infection. Do not wait for your scheduled check-up.
