Instructions specific to your procedure
The post-operative care following a meniscectomy, suture, ligament reconstruction, osteotomy, or prosthesis differs. Before discharge, clarify the permitted weight-bearing, orthotics, flexion, care instructions, and follow-up appointment.
Pain and scarring
Follow the prescription and dressing instructions. Do not add any medication or product to the wound without advice. Report any pain that increases significantly, fever, spreading redness, or discharge.
Walking and Rehabilitation
Use the prescribed aids and respect the weight-bearing limits. Rehabilitation aims to restore mobility and strength while protecting the healing process. Take the anticoagulant medication, if prescribed, for the indicated duration.
Work, driving, and sports
Return to activity depends on the procedure and recovery. Driving requires the ability to control the vehicle and brake without difficulty, without taking incompatible medication. A return to sports is based on functional criteria defined with the team.
When should I ask for help?
A newly painful or swollen calf requires prompt evaluation. Difficulty breathing, chest pain, or feeling unwell requires calling 15 or 112. Do not wait for your scheduled appointment.
Your questions.
Can I follow a relative's protocol?+
No. The procedures and instructions may differ. Your discharge prescription and the protocol provided by the team take precedence.
